2nd time medical admission seekers protest rally in city

Students, who would like to sit for medical admission test for second time, staged a demonstration in the capital on Thursday, protesting a government decision to reduce some marks from the aggregate marks of their  subsequent test.

Hundreds of medical admission seekers under the banner “Students of Dhaka District” formed a human chain in from of Jatiya Press Club in the capital.

They carried banners and festoons saying they will not allow the government to implement the decision. They said none has the right to play game with their career.

  Recently, the health minister announced that a new system for admission into Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental and Surgery (BDS) courses will be introduced this year.

According to the new rule, a merit list of the admission-seekers who passed the HSC examination last year will be prepared by deducting marks from their total number.

Besides, a merit list of fresh admission-seekers now studying in any medical colleges or other colleges will be prepared by deducting 7.5 marks.

But, a merit list of the admission-seekers who passed the HSC examination this year will be made as per their results and admission test numbers.
No marks will be deducted from their total marks for admission under the 2017-18 session.
