Five-week Jamdani celebration set to commence Friday

A five-week-long Jamdani celebration will start at Bengal Shilpalay in the capital's Dhanmondi on Friday.

Bengal Foundation composed the celebration in relationship with the World Crafts Council.

A public interview on the celebration was held at Bengal Boi in the capital yesterday.

Tending to the question and answer session, President of the National Crafts Council of Bangladesh Rafiqul Islam said it took two years for the arrangement of the celebration.

A class titled 'Jamdani: Past, Present and Future' will be hung on September 7 at Women Voluntary Association (WVA) in the city's Dhanmondi region, the coordinator said.

The celebration will be initiated by Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni while State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid, Mayor of Narayanganj Selina Hayat Ivy and the President of the World Crafts Council Asia-Pacific Region Dr Ghada Hijjawi Qaddumi will be available on the event as exceptional visitors.

Leader of the National Crafts Council of Bangladesh Rafiqul Islam will seat the debut function.

The Master Craft Persons grant function will likewise be hung around the same time to respect the most effective ace weaver and their disciples for their aptitudes and commitments to the network.

Four short films on the structure and weaving procedure of Jamdani and the life of weavers will be screened as a major aspect of the program.

The coordinators said that they have taken hard and fast endeavors with the help of the Cultural Affairs Ministry and neighborhood organization of Sonargaon to make Sonargaon as the world Craft City.

The show is available to all consistently, aside from on Sundays, from 12pm to 8pm until October 12. Luva Nahid Choudhury, one of the trustees of Bengal Foundation, agents of official accomplices of the celebration Aarong, Aranya, Kumudini and Tangail Sharee Kutir were additionally present.
