seventeenth Dhaka International Film Festival begins today

With the proverb 'Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society', the seventeenth release of Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) opens today. It will keep running till January 18. Rainbow Film Society is arranging the celebration, with help from a considerable rundown of benefactors and accomplices.

The celebration will be initiated today at the fundamental assembly hall of the Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) by previous back pastor AMA Muhith. The film, The Guest by Turkish filmamaker Andaç Haznedaroğlu will be screened at the opening of the celebration.

This year, the celebration will have screenings of 218 movies from 58 nations under a few areas: Asian Competition, Retrospective, Bangladesh Panorama, Cinema of the World, Children's Films, Spiritual Films, Women Filmmakers, and Short and Independent Films. The settings for the screening incorporate the primary assembly hall and Sufia Kamal amphitheater in National Museum, Shawkat Osman Smriti Milanayatan in Central Library, Jatiya Chitrashala in BSA, Alliance Française de Dhaka and Jamuna Blockbuster Cinema.

In a public interview at Dhaka Club yesterday, the coordinators gave a brief about the celebration. London based software engineer for the celebration Yesim Guzelpinar, head of program Zoreh Zamani Khalaflou, on-screen character and jury part for the Asian Film Competition, Ilias Kanchan, celebration chief Ahmed Muztaba Zamal and the Program facilitator Mo Hamid were available at the press preparation.

Ahmed Muztaba Zamal reported that this year, one film from Bangladesh Panorama area will get the lofty FIRPRESCI faultfinder grant for the Best Film under this category."This grant is esteemed for any producer. We are exceptionally cheerful that one Bangladeshi movie producer will get it this year."

The review segment will screen seven movies by honor winning Serbian executive Goran Paskaljević. Alongside film screenings, the celebration has masterminded gatherings for yearning movie producers. Supporter Sultana Kamal will introduce the fifth International Women Filmmaker Conference to be held at Alliance Française de Dhaka on Jan 11 and 12. This year, the celebration will see out of the blue an intelligent session with the movie producers titled West Meets East. The session will be hung on January 14. 17 Children's movies will be screened each day from 10 am to 3 pm, where youngsters will watch the movies free of expense.
