Chalan Beel boat capsize death toll reaches 5



Rescuers today recovered two more bodies from Chalan Beel following the sinking of a tourist boat at Paikpara area of Chatmohar upazila in Pabna. 
A total of five people, who were missing since the incident, were killed in the tragic incident, reports our local correspondent.
All the bodies have been recovered in rescue operation by divers of Pabna Fire Service and Civil Defence in the two days since the incident. 
The rescue operation has been called off at around 9:00am today as no other people were reported missing, said KM Saiful Islam, assistant director of Pabna fire service. 
Rescuers recovered the bodies of Rafiqul Islam Swapan, a businessman, and Billal Hossain Goni, senior scientific office of regional agriculture research institute in Pabna’s Ishwardi, from the water body this morning, the fire service official also said. 
“All the five missing peoples’ bodies were recovered within 30 hours of the incident. As there is no other reported missing, so the rescue operation has been called off,” he said. 

On Friday, five people went missing as a tourist boat with twenty-two on board capsized in Chalan Beel at Paikpara point under Chatmohar upazila of Pabna when they went to visit the beauty of water body. 

Three bodies were recovered by rescuers on Saturday. 

The other three victims are Billal Hossain’s wife Momtaz Parvin Sheuly, Rafiqul Islam’s daughter Sadia Khatun, and Shahnaz Parvin Parul, a housewife. 

“All the bodies of the victims were handed over to their family members,” said Md Bodruddoza, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chatmohar Police Station.
