Ranbir Kapoor speaks up against pay disparity
Bollywood has evolved a lot in the last decade. From a time when female leads in the film where mostly love interests and had no significant role to play in the story to now when movies like Piku, Mary Kom, Neerja and Veere Di Wedding are ruling the roost. Owing to the change in content, the pay disparity, though gradually is also coming to an end. From women driven content to pay parity, Bollywood is stepping up in all spheres.
Talking about the changing times, Ranbir Kapoor, who is one of the highest paid stars in the country, said that he has worked with some of the biggest names like Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif and they are all up there with him in the game and do get paid equally or more and that the disparity is now just a perception. Stars know their market value now.
He also added that if Deepika is as big or bigger a star than him, she should "get the bigger piece of the pie" when they work together.
Ranbir Kapoor is currently busy promoting his next big project Sanju that is creating all the right buzz amongst the audiences who eagerly wait for the release on June 29th.
