Purnima in, Badhan out

Actress to play female lead role in ‘Dahan’

Popular actress Dilara Hanif Purnima is likely to return to the film industry with a new film ‘Dahan’ to be produced by Jazz Multimedia. She is going to replace actress Badhan for the female lead in the film, which will be directed by Raihan Rafi.

Initially, audience-admired model-turned-actress Azmeri Haque Badhan was selected for the role. Jazz Multimedia also presented Badhan as the heroine for the film during the Shubho Mahurat of the film held this year.
But due to Bandhan’s personal issue, Purnima will take her position and will play the role of a journalist in the film.
Purnima said, “I have been selected primarily for the film. I did not sign the deal yet. The production house had selected Badhan first for the female lead character. For some reasons, Badhan had to move out and I am getting in.”
The film will also star newbie Siam and Puja Cheery, among others.
Though Purnima has not been seen in the films over the last few years, she is very much busy with acting on the small screen. Besides working as a model in the television commercials, she caught the attention of the viewers as an anchor.
Purnima-acted last film ‘To Be Continued’, directed by Iftekhar Ahmed Fahmi, was released on September 29 in 2017.
Making her debut in the film industry with ‘E Jibon Tomar Amar’ in 1997, she won the National Film Award for her role in the film ‘Ora Amake Bhalo Hote Dilo Na’ directed by Kazi Hayat. Starring opposite popular actor Riaz, she came to limelight with the film ‘Moner Majhe Tumi’ in 2003.
Purnima also acted ‘Megher Por Megh’ based on Bangladesh’s Liberation War director by Chashi Nazrul Islam. She acted in ‘Shuva’, a story based on Rabindranath Tagore’s short story ‘Shuvashini’. Her other notable commercial ventures include ‘Hridoyer Kotha’ and ‘Akash Chhoa Bhalobasa’, ‘Poran Jaye Jolia Re’, ‘Matir Thikana’ in, ‘I love you’ and ‘Judge Barrister Police Commissioner’.
