National Award-winning short film ‘Ghraan’ (The Smell) is going to participate in an International film festival ‘Solaris Film Festival’ to be held in Nice, Southern France from May 27 to 30. Directed by Kamrul Ahsan Lelin, the film will be screened in the short film categories.
Kamrul’s debut ‘Ghraan’ is a film about rediscovering the relationship between father and a son. Ahkam, now a father somehow recalls snapshots of childhood and realizes his childly anguish on his poor father, which eventually takes him to an understanding of fatherhood.
The cast of the film includes Tauquir Ahmed, Saberi Alam, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Nirzhar Ahsan, Angona Islam, Rajanigandha Rofik, Emon, Rasel, Siam, Ghalib, Puja and others.
Earlier, the film ‘Ghraan’ won the Best Director Award in the Short Film category at the SMR 13 International Independent Film Festival held in France, won Best Short Film Award at the 6th Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival in 2016. The film also won the National Film Award 2016 in the Short Film Category.
Besides, the film participated in the several international film festivals held in Japan, Iran and others.
To note, The Solaris Film Festival was founded to bring the most original filmmakers together with diverse audiences for its annual program of feature and short films, experimental films, and student work. The Festival’s name is an homage to the Andrei Tarkovsky iconic film Solaris.
