Farooki’s ‘Doob’ invited to festival in Italy

ASIA, AFRICA AND LATIN AMERICA FILM FESTIVAL

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s much-talked-about film ‘Doob’ (No Bed of Roses) is going to participate at the Asia, Africa and Latin America Film Festival in Italy’s Milan.

he 28th edition of the Asia, Africa and Latin America Film Festival has been scheduled to run from March 18 to 25. The film ‘Doob’ will be a part of main competition section with 10 other movies at the festival.
About attending the festival, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki wrote on his Facebook account, “This time my Italian vocabulary is surely going to improve from ciao-pronto-prego to at least 20 words! Taking a crucial one week break from Saturday Afternoon’s post production and heading to Italy for a week as I join the festival trail again with Doob (No Bed of Roses)! The list includes Milan and Turin! Happy to be a part of main competition of 28th Afro, Asia, Latin film festival, Milano!”
He also wrote, “Also glad to be invited by National Museum of Cinema, Turin, to present No Bed of Roses in a special screening! Last but not least, thanks to Milan Film School for inviting me to spend a day with the students!”
Starring celebrated Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan and popular actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha from Bangladesh in the lead roles, the film is said to be loosely based on late Bangladeshi writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed--- who divorced his wife of 27 years and married an actress 33 years junior to him. The filmmaker, however, has denied that it’s a biopic.
To note, the African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival is the only festival in Italy dedicated to the cinematography and cultures of the three continents. The show will feature about 60 films, including 25 Italian premieres, two European premieres and three world premieres, as well as a selection of the latest quality cinema productions chosen from around 600 films.
