Train derailment: 2 probe bodies formed

Bangladesh Railway has formed two separate committees to investigateyesterday’s train derailment in Moulvibazar that halted rail communication of Sylhet with other parts of the country for 16 hours.

At least 11 coaches of Dhaka-bound “Upaban Express” veered off the tracks on Dhaka-Sylhet-Chittagong route near Satgaon station of Sreemangal around 1:00am yesterday.
Bangladesh Railway’s Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer Chandan Kanti Das and its Dhaka Divisional Acting Transport Officer Shafiqur Rahman will lead the three- and the five-member probe committees respectively, said Shawkhat Hossain, station master of Shreemangal Railway Station, today.
The committees formed by BR Dhaka Divisional Manager (DRM) Gousul Monir have been asked to submit the probe reports within three working days, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent quoting Shawkhat.
