Manna to be recalled on 10th death anniv today



Today is the 10th death anniversary of late actor Manna, who, for his versatile acting quality, was one of the most popular actors in the Dhaka film industry. The popular actor will be recalled today by his family, colleagues, friends and fans.
Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti has organised a condolence meeting and doa mahfil at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation Mosque after Asr prayer today on the death anniversary of actor Manna.
Besides, another milad mahfil will be held after Asr prayer at the residence of Manna in the capital’s Uttara area, where actors, directors, producers and artistes of film industry will be present.
SM Aslam Talukder (December 6, 1964 –February 17, 2008), better known by his stage name Manna, was a Bangladeshi film actor and producer. He performed in more than two hundred films and achieved the National Film Award as the Best Actor in 2006.
Born in 1964 at Elenga in Tangail District, Manna’s acting career started in 1984 after he was discovered through a talent search programme by the National Film Development Corporation of Bangladesh.
In his lifetime, Manna was the general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Actors Association. As the general secretary, he was active in the ongoing movement against vulgarity in the Dhaka film industry. One of the first films that brought him to attention was ‘Danga’ (1992). His other commercially successful movies are ‘Traash’, ‘Chadabaaz’ and ‘Ammajaan’.  
Manna-acted notable films are ‘Sipahi’, ‘Jantrana’, ‘Amar’, ‘Pagli’, ‘Danga’, ‘Janatar Baadshah’, ‘Laal Baadshah’, ‘Desh Daradi’, ‘Andha Aine’, ‘Swami Swtir Juddha’, ‘Abuj Shishu’, ‘Mayer Marjada’ etc.
Manna died on February 17 in 2008 following a heart attack.
