Maqbool Fida Husain's graphic arts exhibition starts in Dhaka on Wednesday

The exhibition titled ‘MF Husain: Journey in Graphics’ will start in Galleri Kaya on Wednesday, the organisers said at a press briefing on Sunday.

Goutam Chakraborty, the director of the gallery, said 59 graphic works of the renowned artist would be put on display at the eight-day exhibition.
Gautam ‎said this would be the first exhibition of the world famous artist in Bangladesh.
"We have been trying to organise this exhibition for the past one and a half years. Finally, we’ve managed to do so," he said.
On Wednesday, Finance Minister AMA Muhith and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will jointly inaugurate the exhibition, he added.
Husain started by painting cinema posters and then billboards but he broke with the nationalist traditions to encourage an Indian avant-garde.
Art critic Professor Mohiuddin Khaled said at the briefing Husain became an “all-embracing Indian artist” by assimilating the images drawn through devotion by the people from all religions and ethnicities in India.
The evolution of Husain’s works can be perceived through the exhibition, Khaled said.
Goutam expressed the hope of organising a larger exhibition of Husain’s works in the future.
The exhibition will be open for the visitors from 11am to 7:30pm every day, starting from Jan 24 to Jan 31.
ADN Group, and Suhana & Anis Ahmed Foundation are co-sponsors of the exhibition while bdnews24.com is the online media partner.
The other partners of the exhibition are radio partner Radio Foorti, online partner Artitude and security partner Euro-Vigil.
