A group of students have pledged in the new year that they will never run after leaked question papers as the year past saw so many leaks in public examinations when students' morality was called into question.
The students who gathered at the Azimpur Government Girls High School and College grounds at the New Year’s Day Textbook Festival for distribution of free textbooks on Monday took the oath.
“A certain quarter is out there to destroy our children by leaking the question papers,” Secondary and Higher Education Secretary Md Sohorab Hossain said in his address in the programme on the New Year’s Day.
“This is what I want to know from you – will you cheat in exams?” he asked the students.
“No,” the children shouted.
“Will you run after leaked question papers?” he asked again.
“No,” the children replied.
“Will you accept if someone offers you leaked question papers?” the secretary asked.
“No,” the students gave the same answer.
Secretary Sohorab also urged the guardians to keep the children away from dishonest ways of scoring better in exams.
“Cheating and leaked question papers may help your children do better in the exam, but it won’t help them do anything worthwhile in the future,” he pointed out.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was also present.
