Paying homage to singer Ferdous Wahid, Citibank NA, Bangladesh is going to hold a programme titled ‘Gaane Gaane Gunijon Songbordhona’ at Utsab Hall of Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in the capital tomorrow. Ferdous Wahid will be honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the programme for his outstanding contribution to Bengali music and culture.
Pop singer Ferdous Wahid started his
career in the 1970s. Some of his hit songs from his early career were
composed by Anis Z. Chowdhury, Lucky Akhand and Alam Khan. A few of his
popular songs include 'Emon Ekta Ma Dena’, ‘Mamunia’, ‘Ei Je Dunia’,
‘Mon Tui Dekhlinare’ and others. His son Habib Wahid became a pop singer
too.
Ferdous Wahid not only a pop singer, he
is a film director too. He made his directorial debut with a Bangladeshi
film titled ‘Kusumpurer Golpo’ (The Story of Kusumpur).
Since the first 'Gaane Gaane Gunijon
Sombordhona' in 2004, Citi has honoured Nilufar Yasmin, Farida Parveen,
Feroza Begum, Sanjida Khatun, Shorab Hossain, Ferdausi Rahman, Sabina
Yasmin, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Subir Nandi, Shahnaz Rahmatullah, Syed
Abdul Hadi and Mitali Mukherjee and Runa Laila for their contribution
to Bengali music and culture.
