Tareque Masud, Mishuk Munier to be remembered today

The 6th death anniversary of renowned filmmaker Tareque Masud and cinematographer Mishuk Munier will be observed today. On the occasion, Tareque Masud Memorial Trust (TMMT) and Moviyana Film Society Bangladesh have jointly organised a programme featuring memorial lecture, discussion and film screening today. 

As a part of the programme, ‘Tareque Masud Memorial Lecture’ and commemorative discussion will be held in the seminar room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), while the event also includes film screening at the beginning.

The programme will begin at 5pm with the screening of ‘Adamu Surat’ directed by Tareque Masud —a 1989 Bangladeshi documentary film about the Bangladeshi painter Sheikh Mohammed Sultan, while Prosun Rahman’s documentary ‘Fera’ on the life of Tareque Masud will be displayed at 6pm. Veteran theatre personality Ramendu Majumdar, eminent filmmakers Nasir Uddin Yusuf and Morshedul Islam will participate in the memorial discussion.

President of the Moviyana Film Society Belat Hossain Mamun will moderate the memorial lecture while the president of Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh architect Lilun Nahar Sabbi will preside over the event.

Moreover, lighting of candles will be held at 6:40 pm and Prosun Rahman will pay a special tribute under the title ‘August Aricha Road’ at 7pm.
