Mushfiq wants to play Aussies on turning wickets at home

All players eager to play Test against Australia for first time

Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim had no reservation to reveal that his side wants a turning wicket against Australia in a bid to take the advantage of the home condition as they eye to win the two-match Test series.

As his side gradually has been evolving as a good Test side in line with the success of ODI cricket, Mushfiqur said it is high time to play against Australia who showed enough ignorance towards Bangladesh in the past.
The confidence that Mushfiqur got was from their success against England in a rage turner at home last year. He thought that a similar type of wicket would increase their chance to whitewash the Aussie given their vulnerability against quality spin.
“Obviously we want,” Mushfiqur replied in a query whether they want a turning wicket against Australia. “In the past when we played in our home condition, we couldn’t utilise it. But in the last two years, we learnt the tactics of how to use the home condition. That’s why we are confident that in our given day, we can beat any team of the world.”
Since the last October Bangladesh drew series against England and Sri Lanka at home and away respectively. In between they lost the series against New Zealand at away but not before than putting up a huge fight. The graph of Bangladesh’s improvement was visible indeed.
With the spinners like Shakib Al Hasan, Mehedi Hasan Miraj and Tajul Islam in their form of life, Bangladesh could expect a memorable series victory against any top opposition.
“We have some quality batsmen, good all-rounder and spinners. We gathered some experience and now it’s the high time to play a series against a team like Australia. Just we need to have a good start to the series and pray for the fitness of every player.”
Australia also announced a spin-heavy side with the likes of Nathan Lyon, Ashton Aghar and Mitchell Swepson forming the three-pronged spin attack. Mushfiqur however wasn’t surprised at it.

“We aren’t surprised at all, rather we expected them to form a spin-heavy side. They saw how turning the wicket was during out last series against England. The good thing is that we knew all of their spinners very well. And our preparation has been very good. Hopefully we’ll use the condition to the fullest,” the captain said.
Bangladesh which set up a camp in Chittagong however play a three-day practice match, split into two sides from Wednesday in a wicket that will be used during the second Test against Australia, Mushfiqur informed.
“It’s a blessing for us to practice in a center wicket. The camp in Chittagong has been very good because we are getting opportunity to practice all day long. The other good thing is to adjust with the condition of Chittagong because it is not like Dhaka.”
Muushfiqur however said all of the players in Bangladesh are excited to play against Australia given it’s the first time they will get the opportunity to take on the Aussies.
“We are really excited. We played against all teams apart from Australia. We are confident that we will be able to give Australia tough fight.”
