Aishwarya likely to play Nargis’ role in 1967’s Raat aur Din

After playing a glamorous poetess in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is expected to be seen in a completely different character in the remake of 1976 release Raat aur Din, the original version of which starred the legendary Nargis Dutt, reports Geo.tv.

For Aishwarya Rai to play a role immortalised by Nargis would possibly be the biggest challenge of her career, the Indian media has quoted the film producer, Prerna Arora as saying. She added it was too early to talk about the project.

“But yes, I’d like to say it would be a tremendous challenge for Aishwarya to play a role for which Nargisji is remembered for to this day,” Arora was quoted as saying. “Let’s not forget Raat aur Din was Nargisji’s swan song. She never returned to acting after this film. Her fans still remember her in this film. It’s her most iconic role after Mother India. And I’m proud to be associated with this film.”In Raat aur Din, Nargis played the role of a woman who suffers from a split personality disorder.

The songs sung by the iconic Lata Mangeshkar for the original version of the film are likely to be used in the remake. The songs from the original, include Raat Aur Din Diya Jalay, Awara Ae Mere Dil, Dil Ki Girah Kholdi, Na Chedo Kal Ke Afsane and Jeena Humko Raas Na Aya are considered among the best songs of composer Shankar Jaikishan’s career.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is my mother, gave birth to me via IVF in London, claims youth

2018 has started on a bizarre note for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, with a 29-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh claiming that the actress is his mother.

Sangeeth Kumar, who adds Rai after his first and middle name, insists that Aishwarya gave birth to him in 1988, reports Deccan Chronicle. Interestingly, Aishwarya was only 14 years old in 1988.

"I was born to her by IVF in London in 1988.

I was brought up in Chodavaram from age three to 27. I was with my grandmother Brinda Krishnaraj Rai's family at the age of one and two in Mumbai. My grandfather Krishnaraj Rai died in April 2017 (March), and my uncle's name in Aditya Rai," he told the media in Mangaluru last week.

Sangeeth, who does not have any proof of his claims, also alleged that his 'mother' Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is sepearated from her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, and is "living alone". "I want my mom to come and live with me in Mangaluru. It's already 27 years since I separated from my family, I miss her a lot. I don't want to go to Visakhapatnam, at least I want my mother's number so that I'll be free," he added.

He claims that he did not speak up earlier because he was "manipulated" by relatives. "I'm getting enormous headache and anger at my native place, most of my relatives have manipulated things since childhood, otherwise I would have come back to my mother before itself with clear information. Due to lack of information, I could not come to my mother, so now I got all clarity. Ultimate thing is I want my mom," Sangeeth said.

Meanwhile, Aishwarya has been busy shooting for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's musical comedy Fanney Khan. She will be paired opposite Rajkummar Rao in the film, which also features Anil Kapoor in the lead.

Bangladesh batsman Sabbir faces penalty for assaulting fan during national league match

The disciplinary committee of Bangladesh Cricket Board has recommended cancelling the deal with Sabbir Rahman for assaulting a fan during a national league match.

“He is not going to remain a contracted cricketer,” BCB President Nazmul Hassan said while briefing the media in Dhaka on Monday after getting the panel’s report.

The panel made its report after a hearing following the match referee’s report. 

Nazmul said it also recommended suspending him for six months in domestic games and fining him Tk 2 million.

The BCB held the hearing after allegations surfaced that the right-hand batsman beat up a cricket fan during a National Cricket League match in Rajshahi’s Shaheed Quamaruzzaman Stadium on Dec 21.

The middle-order batsman has been included in the initial squad for the upcoming tri-nation series.

There is no ban on him to play international cricket.

“It’s not that the decisions are final. The disciplinary panel has recommended these measures,” Nazmul said.

"But,” he added, “there are fewer possibilities of reducing these (recommended punishment). Rather these may be extended.”

Punishment for indiscipline is nothing new for Sabbir, one of the Icon Players of Bangladesh Premier League.

In the BPL 2016, he was fined 30 percent of his tournament fee of Tk 4 million. He was also fined 15 percent of match fee for misconduct with an umpire.    

In the 2017 edition of the league, he was fined 30 percent of match fee for a similar offence. 

Nazmul said this was the ‘last chance for Sabbir to correct himself’.

“We are considering an indefinite ban on him if he does this again,” he said.

In international cricket, Sabbir was punished last year in two series.

In the first ODI of the Afghanistan series, he was fined 30 percent of his match fee and received two demerit points for misconduct with umpire.

He had to pay 20 percent of his match fee for indiscipline in the second ODI against England.

She was called by Shahin during that time. When she was only 11, she first gave her voice for play-back song in movie Notun Sur in 1963. Then till 1985 she rendered songs continuously. Since 1964 she started singing in Television. In 1973, she tied the nuptial knot with Abul Bashar Rahmatullah.  

Zahid Hasan’s beard mystery revealed

Celebrated actor-director Zahid Hasan is known for his versatile performance in the acting industry. Recently the clean-shaved actor is seen around with a beard and it has been raising question about what is the reason behind the beard mystery. As it turns out, the actor is growing the beard in order to portray in two films titled ‘Sitara’ and ‘Saturday Afternoon’.

DhakaLive has news that Zahid Hasan is keeping the beard for the necessity of the prominent roles he is going to portray in the two films. Under the direction of talented filmmaker Mostafa Sarwar Farooki, Zahid Hasan will play the character of a Muslim businessman in the film ‘Saturday Afternoon’, who is trying to change the image of the Muslim for the greater good.

On the other hand, the actor will be seen portraying in two phases--with a beard and without a beard-- in the film ‘Sitara’ directed by Ashis Roy. The film has been adapted from the novel ‘Vorer Proshuti’ written by Abul Bashar.

Zahid Hasan said, “I could have easily done the acting with make-up and wig, but I did not want to compromise. I want it to look as real as possible. Often I notice that actor from other countries go to the extra length to make the character real by keeping a beard and also gain or reducing weight. So, why I cannot do it? Because of this, I am doing the experiment on myself, so that I can see the result of it.”

To note, both of the films will be made in not one but two languages. The film ‘Sitara’ will be made in Bangla and Telegu, whilst the film ‘Saturday Afternoon’ will be made in English and Bangla respectively.

Mourinho hits back at United legend Scholes

Jose Mourinho lashed out at Manchester United great Paul Scholes on Monday after the former player's recent criticism of Paul Pogba and said the France midfielder always gives everything even if it does not always pay dividends.

Scholes, who has been a pundit for television network BT Sport since retiring in 2013 after spending his entire, trophy-laden career at United, had criticised Pogba for "strolling" during United's drab goalless draw with SouthamptThe Portuguese coach underlined his reputation for picking fights with key figures in the game with further comments aimed at Scholes and other former United players such as Ryan Giggs who have criticised his side.

"Our performance was really good so maybe I'm lucky this time and the kings of rock and roll that said I wasn't performing last month will say I'm performing now," he said.

"Some people think they have to be at the club but that's a problem I cannot solve."

Mourinho also praised former England midfielder Scholes, who was one of United's key players when they dominated the Premier League under Alex Ferguson between 1992 and 2013.

"Every day I try to do my best. If one day Paul (Scholes) decides to be a manager, I wish he can be 25 percent as successful as myself.

"If he can do that he will be quite happy, but in my mind Paul Scholes is one of the best players I have ever seen playing in midfield.

"He gave so much to my club that I only can thank him for that because the prestige of this club is based on people like him."on on Saturday.

Pogba set up Anthony Martial's opener at Everton on Monday as United roared back from three draws to win 2-0 and Mourinho backed the Frenchman, United's most expensive player ever at 89 million pounds ($120.30 million) from Juventus in 2016.

"Paul tries to do his best all the time and sometimes he plays very well, sometimes he plays well, sometimes he doesn't play so well, but it's not Paul's fault that he makes much more money than Paul Scholes," Mourinho told a news conference.

"It's not Paul Pogba's fault, it's just the way football is but I think Scholes will go down in history as a phenomenal player, but not as a pundit. He doesn't make comments, he only criticises."

In the 81st minute, Jesse Lingard added to Martial's strike to take United provisionally above Chelsea into second place in the Premier League standings and ease the pressure on Mourinho.
