Keep acne at bay

Shikhee Agrawal, Head Training, The Body Shop, and Kiran Lohia, Dermatologist at Lumiere Dermatology, share some tips on how to fight acne.
* Many times acne is caused by internal imbalances, especially with your hormones. Blood tests and ultrasounds can help rule out anything that is causing acne from within. Problems within your gut can also cause acne through a pathway called the "gut-skin axis".
To stop this, eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, pre and pro-biotics. Also, avoid dairy and high glycemic foods as they worsen or create hormonal imbalances.

 * Do not be too harsh with your skin. Many think that acne is simply an overproduction of oil and they can scrub it dry with harsh soaps and exfoliators. The truth is that overly-dry skin can make acne even worse.

Acne is an inflammatory process that causes a lot of redness and swelling; the harder you scrub, the more likely you will damage your skin leading to marks and worsening irritation. Also, do not pick at your pimples, this will only result in marks.
* Stay away from home remedies. Acne takes a long time to treat, 3-6 months to be exact. It can also get worse before it gets better because acne from underneath the skin rises to the surface as part of the healing process.
People get impatient and try home remedies like lemon, toothpaste, or garlic on zits. These things can actually burn your skin! Warm and cold compresses are okay. Otherwise you should look into a safe, sulphur-containing spot treatment.
* Opt in for the perfect cleanser. It is important to exfoliate your skin not excessively but 2-3 times a day. If the skin has enough moisture it doesn't secrete its own oil and hence no breakouts.
* Moisturise your skin frequently. Your skin needs to be moisturised regularly to keep the outer layer of the skin properly hydrated and leave it feeling soft and supple. If it is raining, try using non-water based moisturiser so if you get wet, it won't completely wash off.
* To keep bacteria at bay, wash your hands while doing an application on face. Touching your face especially the infected area will spread bacteria that can cause more acne.
* Tea tree oil is a must have essential oil with astringent properties which can fight this odd season. It is both anti bacterial and anti-fungal and is perfect for oily skin.

Pep reveals Spain ambitions

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed he wants to coach Spain in the future.
Former Spain midfielder Guardiola is in his second season with City after successful spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
The 46-year-old failed to win a trophy in his first year in England, but City have emerged as early pace setters in the Premier League title race this season.
While Guardiola has no plans to leave City any time soon, he admitted he is keen to test his skills at international level.
Asked whether he would like to take charge of a national team, Guardiola told BBC's Football Focus: "Yes, Spain I think.

"I would like to be a manager in a World Cup, and the European Cup (European Championships), I would like to feel that."
After a chastening first season at City, Guardiola spent big on new signings before the new campaign.
The early results are promising, but he knows he must deliver silverware soon to keep City's Abu Dhabi-based owners happy.
"I am so happy to be here," he added. "It really depends on the success we have.
"Big clubs like Manchester City, if you don't win, you don't stay."

Common jewellery mistakes to avoid, according to experts

Vikalp Bothara, Founder of online platform Jewellerkaka.com, and Siddharth Garg, Director, S2R Jewellers, list down some blunders to avoid.
>>Wearing big danglers with a neckpiece having layers and multiple bracelets is a complete no. So learn to keep it simple. Avoid wearing big earrings if you are wearing a statement neckpiece.
>>Don't wear multiple hair accessories. Too much stuff on your head looks messy. Your hair shouldn't be the first, second, or even third focal point. It should be your face, your ring, and your dress. Instead of using fresh flowers use artificial flowers or accessories as fresh flowers will be smelly and dry by day end.
 >Don't neglect the neckline. The right neckpiece can enhance your look for the day, and certain neckpieces highlight unique features or draw the eye upwards toward your face. Strapless and sweetheart dresses really show off your neck, shoulders, and chest, so play that up by choosing a neckpiece that falls just below the collarbone. If your dress has a high neck, you can balance and elongate the torso with a longer neckpiece.
>>A single jewellery piece makes a statement of your fashion. Refrain from wearing a heavy neckpiece with matching chandelier earrings. They're meant to be worn separately even if they came into your life as a set.
>>Never wear jewellery that is too tight for comfort. No piece of jewellery that makes your neck, arm or finger bulge out is visually pleasing, leave alone being comfortable.
>>Do not continue wearing precious jewellery without touching up its polish and rhodium once in a while. Like everything else, metal too is subject to wear and tear, it will fade, get bruised, probably even chip, or have the chemical reaction to perfumes or henna.
